Eddie Jordan Calls for Ferrari to End Lewis Hamilton’s Contract After Disappointing Performance.

Eddie Jordan, a former owner of an F1 team, has stirred up debate with his comments about Lewis Hamilton’s future in Formula 1. He suggested that Ferrari should consider letting go of the seven-time world champion after he faced difficulties during the challenging 2024 season. Since making an unexpected switch to Ferrari at the start of 2024, Hamilton has been grappling with issues related to speed and consistency, leading to questions about his continued presence in the sport.

Hamilton’s decision to switch from Mercedes to Ferrari in February 2024 made major headlines. Seeking a fresh challenge after Mercedes’ decline post-2014–2021 dominance, Hamilton was also motivated by a lifelong dream of driving for Ferrari and the attractive financial incentives offered. However, his tenure with the Italian team has been challenging, as the 39-year-old has faced numerous performance setbacks.

The 2024 season has proven to be one of Hamilton’s most challenging. Despite his legendary stature, he has grappled with speed and consistency issues, frequently being outperformed by his teammate George Russell. His candid admission about not feeling “fast enough anymore” sparked concerns regarding his self-belief and capability to compete at the pinnacle level. This led Eddie Jordan, a seasoned F1 observer, to propose that Ferrari should seriously contemplate terminating their contract with Hamilton if he had lost confidence in himself.

“If I were Ferrari and heard Lewis say he’s not fast enough anymore, I’d suggest closing the book and finding a way out,” Jordan stated, highlighting how crucial confidence is in the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1. He also suggested that Hamilton might consider retiring if he feels his peak performance days are behind him. According to Jordan, Hamilton’s legacy is already secure, and with interests such as music and fashion to explore further, he has plenty of opportunities beyond racing.

Hamilton’s challenges have been exacerbated by the lackluster performance of his Ferrari SF24, which lagged behind the leading Red Bull team’s speed. Despite some progress from Ferrari later in the season, Hamilton’s performances remained erratic. He endured a winless streak exceeding 900 days before eventually claiming victory at both the British and Belgian Grands Prix in 2024. The triumph at Silverstone was especially noteworthy; however, these successes couldn’t fully overshadow Hamilton’s evident frustrations as he approached the end of that racing year.

As Hamilton nears his 40th birthday, speculation about his F1 future has intensified. Jordan’s remarks underscore the growing pressure on both the driver and Ferrari as they face an uncertain path ahead. Should Hamilton’s confidence continue to diminish, he may soon find himself at a career crossroads where retirement or a change in focus becomes increasingly plausible.

As Hamilton and Ferrari assess their future possibilities, the upcoming months will be pivotal in shaping the next moves for one of Formula 1’s most legendary figures.
