BREAKING NEWS: Lewis Hamilton reveals what could make him.
Lewis Hamilton Contemplates F1 Future: Retirement to be Guided by Passion and Performance Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion who will celebrate his 40th birthday in January, has shared insights about his future in the sport and potential reasons for retiring.
With a career nearing two decades, Hamilton is expected to further extend his illustrious journey by making an eagerly awaited switch to Ferrari in 2025. Although he has achieved tremendous success over the years, the British driver still feels passionate and closely tied to racing’s excitement, which drives him to keep competing.
Hamilton, having recently inked a multi-year deal with Ferrari, is set to begin his 19th consecutive season in Formula 1 by 2025. Reflecting on what keeps him passionate about the sport, he highlighted that the thrill of racing continues to mesmerize him.
“When I first buckle up and they fire up the car,” Hamilton revealed, “I feel that same excitement bubbling within me.” He described how exhilarating it is when gearing up for a race; moments such as exiting the pit lane and approaching Turn 1 still provide an enormous rush even after almost twenty years of racing competitively.
Hamilton shared that his deep sense of joy is what keeps him driven. “There are still countless moments when I can hardly believe I’m able to do this,” he remarked. He admitted that the thrill of racing remains intact, which likely fuels his passion for it.
He further explained, “It hasn’t become so routine that I’ve lost the excitement. If ever I felt indifferent about it, I’d likely pursue a different path.”Hamilton acknowledged that the day he no longer feels this way could be when he thinks about leaving Formula 1.
He suggested he’d have to discover something just as exhilarating, such as flying fighter jets, to equal racing’s intensity. Despite still experiencing great joy in the sport, Hamilton remains aware of its physical and mental challenges for a driver.Hamilton shared that he has a mental plan mapped out for his eventual retirement.
“I do have a mental blueprint of where I’d like to go,” he stated, while underlining the importance of approaching retirement thoughtfully. He is committed to ensuring burnout or disillusionment doesn’t decide when he steps away from his career, asserting that he’ll retire only when he’s no longer passionate about the sport. “I hope that moment never arrives,” he added.
Hamilton also shared insights from discussions with other athletes who retired early and later regretted their decision. “Many have mentioned they wish they could have stayed just one more year,” he said. He emphasized his intention to make the most of his time in Formula 1, cherishing every moment of a sport that has significantly shaped his life.
Ultimately, Hamilton is dedicated to remaining in Formula 1 as long as his passion and competitiveness endure. “But I don’t want to do it if I’m not good,” he emphasized, indicating that his future in the sport hinges on sustaining both his enthusiasm for racing and strong performance levels.
As he gears up to join Ferrari, Hamilton remains focused on pushing himself further while savoring every moment behind the wheel.
