She never fed us,” When Simone Biles revealed how her biological mother’s actions triggered her hatred for cats

Reigning Olympic and World champion Simone Biles once made shocking revelations about her biological mother, Shanon Biles, with whom the gymnast shared a troubled past. Shanon gave birth to twins Simone and Adria in March 1997, but due to her struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, the Biles sisters were admitted to a foster home before getting adopted by their grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles. In addition to her drug and alcohol addiction, Shanon also faced legal troubles that led to her being cut off from her biological family. Besides Adria, Biles also has two other siblings who were adopted by their grandaunt.

Simone, who shares a not-so-pleasant bond with her biological parents, once revealed that she used to give enough food to a cat while Biles and her other siblings were left to starve.

In a 2021 Facebook Watch series, “Simone vs. Herself,” the 11-time Olympic medalist shared that during their childhood with their biological parents, her two sisters and brother often focused on food as they did not have enough to eat.

“Growing up, me and my siblings were so focused on food because we didn’t have a lot of food,” she said.

Biles further expressed her reasons of disliking cats and stated:

“I remember there was this cat around the house and I would be so hungry. They would feed this cat and I would be like, ‘Where the heck is my food?’ And so I think that’s [why] I don’t like cats … because this freaking street cat, she always fed it. But she never fed us.”

After being adopted by her grandparents, Simone Biles was enrolled in a training program at Bannon’s Gymnastics and began to showcase her athletic talent from her childhood itself. The Ohio native then went on to become arguably the greatest gymnast in the world. To back the aforementioned statement, Biles has won 11 Olympic medals, including seven golds, two silvers, and two bronzes. In addition, she has also amassed 30 World Championship medals, consisting of 23 golds, four silvers, and three bronzes. Biles currently places seventh in a combined (men’s and women’s) list of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts in history.
