“If we take Max Verstappen out of F1, nobody cares; but with Lewis Hamilton out, people care”: Former champion defends new Ferrari signing

Former Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve has strongly defended Ferrari’s decision to sign Lewis Hamilton, calling it a game-changing move for the iconic team. Responding to Flavio Briatore’s skepticism, Villeneuve highlighted Hamilton’s immense value beyond the racetrack.

“Ferrari is more than a racing team; it’s a global brand. Signing Hamilton instantly boosted their value, making it a brilliant decision,” Villeneuve stated. Comparing Hamilton’s influence to Max Verstappen’s, he remarked, “Take Verstappen out of F1, and nobody cares. Remove Hamilton, and everyone notices.”

Villeneuve emphasized that the pairing of Hamilton and Ferrari combines two of the biggest names in motorsport, creating unparalleled excitement and business opportunities.
