FIA announces penalty decision for McLaren driver following qualifying incident at the Australian Grand Prix.

McLaren’s Australian Grand Prix weekend has deteriorated further, as they received a penalty prior to the first race of Formula 1’s season.
McLaren stormed into the first qualifying session of the 2025 season with incredible speed, as Lando Norris secured his first pole position of the year.
During Q3, Norris had his initial lap time invalidated, and a mistake on Oscar Piastri’s first lap prevented him from putting together a competitive enough time to outperform Max Verstappen. This was despite their early advantage around Albert Park.
On their final attempt, Piastri briefly captured the fastest time. However, his teammate surpassed him to claim pole position at their home race by a margin of +0.08 seconds.
