Lewis Hamilton ‘exploded’ and left in tears by Ferrari as career hits new low

Lewis Hamilton reportedly exploded with rage in his Ferrari cockpit before he was left in tears at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix. He limped home in sixth place, having been unable to extract enough pace from the machinery beneath him. In contrast, his team-mate Charles Leclerc came third and got to join in with the podium celebrations.

One particular moment towards the end of the race marked arguably the lowest point for Hamilton since he joined Ferrari. He was overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg, with the Sauber breezing past him on pure pace. It reportedly prompted a furious reaction from the Brit, who was completely helpless to defend his position.

Hamilton ‘exploded’ with frustration because he ‘had never experienced such a low point’, according to Bild. He had been hoping for a podium finish before the start of the race but his expectations were shattered in brutal fashion.

The seven-time champion also wiped away tears after the race, indicating just how upset he was that Hulkenberg was able to pass with relative ease despite being in an inferior car.

It remains to be seen where Hamilton will go from here, with his dream of winning an eighth world title in 2025 already going up in smoke. The 40-year-old was quick to blame himself after the chequered flag in Spain, saying it was the worst race he had experienced.
